The Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON) offers a Writing Mentorship Program for new writers designed to encourage oncology nurses who have never written an article in a peer-reviewed journal. The program gives novice authors the opportunity to be mentored through the publishing process.
A committee selects applicants throughout the year and matches each fellow with an experienced nurse author. Once paired, the mentor guides the fellow through the manuscript development and writing process, assists the fellow in submitting the article to CJON, and continues to work closely with the fellow after the manuscript goes through peer review to assist in making the reviewers' recommended modifications and changes to the article for resubmission and publication. In addition, the program offers new authors additional support from the Oncology Nursing Society's publishing and library staff. Learn about the program and fill out an application.
