Monitoring Response to TKI Therapy
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (2011) recommends monitoring treatment at 3, 6, 12, and 18 months, considering the cytogenetic or hematologic responses of the patient at each time interval. Those who are not achieving optimal results at each time interval should be evaluated carefully to decide whether treatment should be changed. Mutational analyses are important at time of first loss of response to determine course of future treatment.
